This week I am attending the AshokaU Exchange in New Orleans. The Exchange brings together educators from across the country to discuss how to encourage and embolden students to help create positive change. As a part of the conference, we also do site visits to organizations that are providing job training or incubation/acceleration services to businesses. We visited Redemption, a working restaurant that provides job training to students who have dropped out of school and may have been arrested for non-violent criminal offenses. Here is a Redemption trainer with the 8 habits of success.
We also visited Ashe – a cultural center and boutique that sells African inspired products, and owns 23 units of low income and market rate housing; 4.0, an incubator for education-related products and new ways to educate k-12 students; and The Idea Village, an accelerator for New Orleans based companies.
