Business plans are due for the FBPC on April 1st. The finals will be held on April 8th. Mark your calendars – it should be an exciting competition with the following teams competing for a top prize of $20,000.
Good Citizen (Morgan Reid-Spaulding ’16 and Annys Aristy ’16) and Adirondack Flannel (Jamie Benjamin ‘17 and Leif Catania ’17) are both launching clothing lines. Good Citizen will be mentored by Nancy Wekselbaum ‘73, owner of The Gracious Gourmet, who mentored Adirondack Flannel last year. Adirondack Flannel will be mentored by Gregg Smith ’92, partner, Edison Nation.
MyCity Brew (Jonah Epstein ’16) and Rum Dogs (Alexander Nassief ’16) both have alcohol-related products. MyCity Brew recently raised $10,000 in a Kickstarter campaign to produce a beer for Buffalo selected by the residents of Buffalo. Jonah will mentored by Larry Peck ’92, managing director of Peck Asset Management. Rum Dogs has produced a domestically produced, premium ocean-aged rum. Rum Dogs plans to first launch in Domenica and then launch internationally. Alex will be mentored by Sara Arnell, senior managing director, The Magrino Agency.
Lemur Technologies (Derek Halden ’16, Anh Vu Nguyen ’17 and Khalil Hall-Hooper ’16) and AuxNation (Noam Kahn ’18, Dhruv Singh ’18 and Zack Jones ’18) are developing mobile apps. Lemur’s a app will evaluate employees via anonymous reviews from supervisors and colleagues. They’ll be mentored by Andrew Eifler ’07, vice president, product management, AppNexus. AuxNation is developing an app that will enable DJs to better match playlists with the preferences of event attendees. They’ll be mentored by Kathryn Peper ’78, an entrepreneurial physician.
Finally, Green Onion Farm Cooperative (Claire Lindsay ’16) is launching a farmers’ cooperative in the Hudson Valley that brings consumers into a shared experience of retail events, food, arts, and learning. She’ll be mentored by Christine Juneau ’82, P’18. Mark your calendars now to come cheer them on at the Finals on April 8th.
